Utah Arts Festival 2010

Mike got free tickets to the Art's Festival from a coworker which turned out to be an awesome event! We went and checked out the Sponsored patio and got hooked with with free food and drinks, then we headed out to venture in the crowd. There was many interesting arts. Paintings, pictures, glass, wood, metal, jewelery, and music. It was really cool to see all the things people come up with. We didn't buy anything since I've been trying to save money to survive the next year of school, but it's still fun to browse. It's also a great atmosphere just to hang out and wander. I'm glad we were able to go this year, especially because the only money we spent was on parking! :)

Donating can be fun!

The other day I got a postcard in the mail from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah asking for donations of usable clothing and household items. The postcard said that all we had to do was put them in a bag and put them curbside by a certain time on a certain day and they would be picked up.
How easy is that? I already have 3 bags full of old clothes in the basement, why not go through them and give them to someone who will use them? So I talked Mike into going through his many, many clothes and giving away some of them.
I admit that I had to be a little hard on him to get him to decide for certain items of clothes. The rule was that if it doesn't fit or if you wont wear it, it gets put in the bag. So began our quest.
And I have to say that I was shocked.
Mike has clothes from Junior High! And he was reluctant to give them away. It was like torture. I felt bad, but I made him give things away that he didn't really want to, but they all fit the criteria that it didn't fit or that he wouldn't wear it

I routinely go through my clothes and throw out, give away or at least put aside unworn clothes about once a year to make room for the new clothes I buy. Out with the old, in with the new. Why not have closet full of clothes you wear, instead of a closet full of clothes you used to wear?

And why not for a good cause?!
Thank you Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah for helping us to help you! We gave away 2 huge lawn and leaf bags full of unworn clothes! Now we have all that room for new clothes!

Book 2 of the series was fabulous. It's turned into a little love story too, I really am loving these books. I'm just hoping I can finish books 3, 4 and 5 before I have to start school again!

Killers

Tonight my mom and I decided to catch a movie. Mike doesn't always want to see the same movies I do, so I let him off the hook occasionally and find someone else who will love them with me. I don't know many Grey's Anatomy fans who don't love Katherine Heigl, I think I've seen every one of her movies. (Even "Wish upon a Star" before she became Izzy) And I can't say enough about Ashton Kutcher. He's fun to look at...
It is a romantic comedy, the kind that make you leave the theater smiling and wishing that life could really end up with such a happy ending. I love that crap. Tom Selleck is also in it as Katherine Heigl's dad and is really funny. Go see this movie! It's worth watching!

The Clan of the Cave Bear

The Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean M. Auel

This book was recommended to me by my friend/office manager, Stephanie. She has also read and loved the Outlander series so I decided that she has good taste in books and picked this one up. She warned me that the author can be extremely descriptive with nature and such, but to bear with it because she's just trying to give you a good setting. Well I never give up on books so I stuck with it and about half way through, I was HOOKED! I couldn't put it down. It is so good! You fall in love with Ayla and you just get so sucked into the story. It's an amazing story and can't wait to get further into book 2 of the series to find out what happens next!

The A-Team

Sunday we decided to catch a movie with my mom since my step dad had to leave town for work that night. We had all been wanting to see The A-team so we decided to go. Nick decided to join us and none of us were disappointed!
This movie is absolutely the perfect blend of a good story line, action, comedy and the gorgeous Bradley Cooper. I give it two thumbs up and would recommend seeing it. I'll probably buy it and watch it again! Yes, it's that good! Did I mention that Bradley Cooper is in it?! Oh yeah!

Sex and the City

Two years ago I went to see Sex and the City the movie with some girls who loved the show. I've only ever seen a few episodes and they were all out of sequence. Despite not seeing the seasons, I LOVED the movie, I actually own it and watch it all the time. So I was most certainly going to go see the second movie when it came out.
My friend, Trisha, said that I have to see the seasons with Aiden in them before seeing the movie since the previews hinted that he'd be a part of the new movie. She brought me seasons 3 and 4. I thought since I dropped my summer class, why not watch all the seasons before seeing the movie? There's no reason or time constraints at hand to make me not be thorough after all. :) So in about 2 weeks time, I watched all seasons 1-6 and absolutely loved them (yes, that's how much free time I have).
Then it came time to get down to business and see the new movie. I talked Trisha into it one day after work and it was fabulous! Of course it contained a little Sex and the City drama but like all good movies, had a happy ending. Trisha and I had consumed most of a large popcorn and two large drinks so by the time the happy ending rolled around our bladders were screaming for help! We had to nearly push some slow old ladies aside to get to the restroom!
It was an all around fun night! We did decide that we like the first movie better, but I'd recommend seeing #2, it's worth seeing! I'd even see it again!
