MedSurg Clinicals

We have now completed our Medsurg clinicals for the semester. Woohoo! no more preloading, no more careplans, no more process recordings! (For the semester anyway).
I love my clinical group. We've been the same group since day 1 and I love it! They are so much fun. They are like my second family. We've spent so much time together this past month, I'm even seeing them in my dreams! We are now onto OB Clinicals which are amazingly fun!
Here are some pics of our last day at St Marks.

This is post conference. This is about how looney we get after 8+hours of preloading and care plan writing the day before, getting up to be at the hospital at 645am and post conference from 3 to 530. It's enough to make anyone crazy!

This is Russell, our clinical instructor. He is awesome!

Viva Las Vegas!

Last month was the anniversary of our friends, Taylor & Jill. Taylor had never been to Las Vegas so they decided that's where they wanted to go and they invited a few of us to join them. They all left on Friday to drive to St George and spend the night before proceeding to Vegas but Mike and I had already planned on the Brad Paisley concert so we stayed to watch the concert and caught a flight to Vegas Saturday morning.

My idea for the trip was to be nice and warm, relaxing by the pool. This did not happen unfortunately. The gang wanted to hit the strip mid-day and see the sites, so we decided to tag along.

This is all of us at the Aria

They have a whole mall within this place and they have these cool vortex cylinders that we stopped and watched for a bit.

This is the happy married couple, Taylor and Jill

Can this really be here? It was definitely designed by a man. I mean, seriously?

Mike "motorboating" the statue. Some Asian guy was laughing so hard I think he peed his pants.

This is what Vegas is all about right?

This is where we stayed, The Luxor

This car was in the parking garage, it hadn't moved either day we were there and I couldn't help taking the picture. I felt like a total creeper taking a picture of the inside of someone's car, but seriously? This is hoarding! Or just terrible clutter? How many plastic bags do you need?! I mean, only one person can fit in this whole car because there are so many bags!

Sunday morning we headed back to St George. Jill's parents have a house there so we planned to stay the night. It was a nice way to save on money and only have to spend one night in a hotel. Our neighbors, JJ and Brandi, were also staying in St George at JJ's parent's St George house and they invited us for dinner. We took them up on the offer, it's always fun to hang out with them, plus it gave Taylor and Jill a chance to go out alone for their anniversary.

Little Atley watching football with the boys. She'd just slammed her hand in the door and was giving it a little R&R.

Someone convinced me to get this "7-day sucker" it actually only took me about 5 days to eat it. It was pretty good, like a jawbreaker on a stick.

I glad we got to go and get away for a weekend. We don't get to do that too often with work and school. It was nice, warm weather and a great weekend with friends!

Parker's Birthday

Parker's Bday was way back at the end of August but I thought I'd catch my blog up a bit. Parker is one of our roommates so his birthday was cause for celebration. He wanted to get some yummy dinner and drinks at Hoppers and then hit Liquid Joes for the always fun Spazmatics.

Happy Birthday Parker!

Yeah, I'm rocking the side ponytail. It's 80s music after all

I LOVE the Spazmatics! When I'm there having a blast I think to myself, "why dont I do this more often?" then the next morning I realize why: it takes all day recovering on the couch feeling horrible and a $60 bar tab, not to mention the purging that happens after I consume most of that $60 bar tab.. This is why I limit my going out to special occasions, I obviously can't control myself.
PS I still dont know a good way to rid the redeye on photos so you get to deal with out creepy eyes in these pics! :)

Where have I been?

Well, since school started I’ve been SUPER busy. This semester is so demanding. So I thought I’d write a quick post about where I spend most of my time…

When I got accepted to nursing school I realized that I would be doing a lot of studying and to make the most of this study-time I would need a special place with few distractions. So we turned one of the spare bedrooms in our house into my office. My mom found an awesome (& huge) desk from the DI for a good deal and now, this is where I live.

This is an amazingly cute gift I got from my friend, Jen. Unfortunately, I haven’t found pics or the time to crop them so they’ll fit in the little frames, one day though..

It is however, the only decoration I have in this little room and I love it!

My bookshelves are rapidly being taken over with school books

My life is lived according to several different calendars

Well there you have it, this is where I spend my days when not at school. This biggest sadness is that I miss so much work. Some of you may feel that this is reason for celebration but I love my job. I enjoy working, even more now that I’m in school. It’s nice to go somewhere that you’re needed and actually know things. School oftentimes makes me feel like I know nothing!

I do also have a nice padded bench (my hope chest) on the other side of my desk for visitors, so if you’re ever in the neighborhood and want to stop by, I have a seat for you, and I can always use a break for a quick visit.
