Hair

Since we've lived together Mike has had to learn to deal with my hair. I shed like crazy. I have very thick hair and most of my life its been long. I grew up with cats and dogs and my mom and I always had long hair, and well, you just learn to vacuum alot. Well this is new to Mike. He always has something to say about it. Hair on his clothes, in the bathroom, in the shower, on him, it literally everywhere. Sometimes i really wonder how I'm not bald! Heather, one of my patients who does hair, tells me its normal to lose 75-100 hairs a day, although I've never counted but it seems like more than that. I think Mike's biggest issue is the hair in the shower, he'll take it our of the hair catch when i forget and instead of throwing it away, he'll put it on one of the shelves in the shower for me to find later. I do try to remember to clean it myself, but sometimes i forget! So the other day I decided to leave him a surprise. Here is a pic:

It's about eye level, i thought it was hilarious! It actually took some effort to get the hairs to form letters but i think its pretty good!

It was all fun and games until i was vacuuming the other day and the vacuum started to smell like it was burning, so i unplugged the thing (didn't want to get electrocuted) and laid it down to check the part that spins, and i couldn't even see it because there was so much hair around it! I wonder if it could even turn all the way! Here is the 'hairy' truth:

I just have too much hair! Or have a hard time keeping it all on my head anyway!

The Big 25

This past Thursday was my 25th Birthday. It really has been several days of celebration. It's what happens when there are several persons with whom you'd like to celebrate. Birthdays as an adult are fairly normal days, although once anyone knows it's your birthday they become super nice to you, so obviously it was a good day! Michelle at work made me a Better Than Sex Cake (that we ate for breakfast!), my Dad and Step Mom were in Hawaii so they sent me flowers, then my mom sent me flowers too, they haven't ever don't that before, send me flowers, but they both did this year.. does that mean 25 is hard and they were trying to soften the blow? Not quite sure.. but it was very nice of them anyway!

Mike had a Board Meeting that night at work so he had to stay pretty late, so we didn't really plan to do anything that night, I was a little disappointed but it gave me a good excuse to watch the season finale of Grey's Anatomy. My mom said i couldn't sit at home alone on my birthday so i had dinner with her and my uncle and then my mom and I retired in front of the TV with a box of tissues. I just have to say that i cant believe what has happened. George and Izzy? Both dead? or in some sort of limbo? Oh it was so sad, and it has totally left you hanging on the edge of your seat. I can't believe they just left it that way. I have heard that those actors were leaving the show, but they can't both die! I guess I'll just have to wait until next season to know for sure!

Friday after work Amanda took me to lunch at our favorite place, Charlie's Steakery in the mall, then we went for pedicures. I love pedicures! Now we both have cute toes! Thanks Manda!

Then, that night it was off to do the real celebrating! Tepanyaki style! I drank way too much sake! I love it though! Mike was driving me so he couldn't drink too much, and my mom and brother don't like sake (although Cody did take one shot with me), so it was up to my step dad, Todd, and I to finish like champions! He is great, he never lets me drink alone. (I think I stopped counting after 4 or 5 shots, so i look rather "happy" in these pics..)

Mom, me, Mike

Cody (Amiee was making a sad face because she was against being in the pic, so we just took one of Cody by himself, and little Mckaius slept through the whole dinner)

This is the hilarious shirt Brooke sent me. Thanks Brooke!

Then today Mike's parents took me to lunch, and I'm sure we'll get together with my dad when they get back into town. So it's really like a Birthweek, rather than a Birthday! Or at least that's how it is in my family!

How Sleeping Dogs Lie

Have you ever noticed how dogs will sleep in the strangest places and positions. I have found a few quick pis for demonstration:

One leg in the air

Both legs in the air

This one actually looks comfy. He wont usually lay in his own bed but he'll take over the love sack!

Under the bed

On his back

My Mom's dog Sammy laying half off his bed

When he was smaller he claimed the cat bed

Ando use to think he was a cat, laying on the back of the couch

Most of the time he thinks he needs to lay right on top of me, no matter what i'm doing. I guess i'm glad he's small enough to do it!

A Sad Story

For the past several weeks Mike has been trying to fix our yard, the grass anyway. It's rather dead in half the yard. So he went and put harsh weed killer down, the dogs (we were dog sitting at the time) couldn't be in the back yard with it because it is very toxic so they had to go on a chain in the front yard to do their business (which Ando HATES!). When it was finally safe to use the back yard again we found some disturbing, a bird had gotten its leg caught between the slats of our fence, and tried unsuccessfully to free itself, and died! It was hanging upside down. I was so sad! Of all the times for it to get stuck, it's the week and a half when we aren't back there! We tried to get our friends drunk enough to take it down and throw it away.. No one was up to the challenge. I think it was starting to rot before our friend Justin was brave enough to go out there. We gloved him and Parker carried a bag to put it in. It was gross. I feel really sad about the whole thing. They said his little leg was raw to the bone with all his efforts to get free. I'm not super morbid or anything (well maybe a little) but here is a pic of our dead friend, may he rest in peace!

PS At least I'm not as crazy as Naomi's mother from The Bachelor, there was no funeral service or burial, simply a trash bag into the garbage can!

The Swine Flu

So I started to hear about the latest scary thing out there: Swine Flu. I searched the CDC about it and found it to be not that alarming. I mean it is being considered very dangerous, contagious and i think they are saying it could be a pandemic or is a pandemic, I'm not really sure. Mike sends me text messages every day about how many new cases and deaths have been reported. Ok Ok.. its scary. I work at the doctor's office, while we do see a fair amount of sick people, I've only had 2 phone calls inquiring about it but we do try to be very germ free, so I'm not all that concerned. I'm trying to keep everyone calm. Here's what to do: Wash hands regularly, Try to be as healthy as possible, and for heavens sake, don't do this:

Hope everyone has a good week!
P.S. you can't get swine flu from eating pork, so bring on the bacon! :)
